Anti-Harassment Policy

The Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) is dedicated to providing a harassment-free space for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, nationality, education, experience, career, or specialty. We believe in fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants.

This includes ITT’s programme of events, Institute-related activities and all interactions with Members whether that be during meetings (in-person and online) or through email or other forms of communication.

Code of Conduct
ITT Members and event attendees have the right to feel safe, respected, and free from harassment, intimidation, and anti-social or abusive behaviour. While we welcome discussion, debate, networking, and engagement, participants should conduct themselves with professionalism, showing all other participants respect, courtesy, and consideration.

Unacceptable Behaviour
Any form of harassment, discrimination, and bullying is unacceptable and will not be tolerated at any ITT Event or during any interactions with Members. Harassment, discrimination, and bullying can include, but are not limited to:

  • Unwanted behaviour, inappropriate jokes, or images
  • Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning verbal or written comments and images
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following Harassing photography or recording
  • Sustained disruption of sessions or other events
  • Unwelcome sexual attention
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviours
Harassment can occur even without deliberate intention to offend. Harassment committed in a joking manner or disguised as a compliment still constitutes unacceptable behaviour. We ask that all participants be mindful and careful in the words they choose.

Reporting and Consequences
ITT Members and other event participants are encouraged, but not required, to inform the harasser that their conduct is unwelcome.

If a participant is in immediate danger, venue security or local law enforcement should be informed promptly, prior to notifying ITT.

To report harassment, please speak to the ITT Event Manager or an ITT Board Director or email events@itt.co.uk. When notified of individuals who are engaging or who have engaged in harassing behaviour, ITT may take any action deemed appropriate, which could include:

  • Verbal or written warnings
  • Temporary or permanent expulsion from ITT Events
  • Reporting to local law enforcement
ITT assumes no liability or responsibility for the actions of any ITT Member or other event participant.
