ITT Sustainability Committee

The ITT Sustainability Committee was set up in 2022 with the aim to inspire ITT members to embrace the sustainability agenda so that it becomes embedded in their business philosophy and operations. This includes developing better strategies and climate action plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and develop travel and tourism experiences which aim to protect destinations, the natural environment and enhance local communities’ livelihoods.

Initiatives delivered so far include: implementing carbon offset schemes and in-destination measures at overseas conferences (2022 Turkey, 2023 Qatar, 2024 Halkidiki and Sardinia 2025); introducing carbon management & measurement support programmes for members; incorporating leading experts and sustainability content into events and within our committee; and sharing resources and best practice in our resource & knowledge hub.

The ITT Sustainability Committee continues to evolve, reflecting and responding to where we can best add value to our members and to the wider tourism community. Our pillars of focus moving into 2025 and beyond are: carbon management, protecting destinations, developing a sustainability community and professional development. We also regularly engage with ITT members on their needs and progress to help shape our priorities and agenda.
