The French Government has updated its rules on refunds for cancelled holidays to limit the economic strain that tour operators are being placed under due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The French Prime Minister has announced that credit notes will be implemented with retroactive effect as of 1 March 2020 for contracts cancelled between 1 March and 15 September. Consumers will have 18 months to use the credit note from date of issue, and will then be able to ask for a refund if the credit note is not used within this period. The credit note could apply to package holidays as well as ‘dry’ accommodation (including hotels and campsites), car rentals as well as services sold by social and solidarity tourism associations but cannot be used for air tickets.
