DATES: 5-15 October 2006
The first of ITT’s educational visits took place in October. Hosted by the Zimbabwe Tourist Authority and Air Zimbabwe, seven ITT members travelling as part of a UK & Ireland party joined an international group representing Russia, China, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates on a joint fam trip to Zimbabwe.
After visiting Harare, Bulaweyo, Hwange and Victoria Falls, the trip finished back in Harare for a three day international travel expo. The group was taken on hotel and safari lodge inspections, had meetings with travel and tourism ministers, were interviewed by World Service radio, and even had a camera crew from an African satellite channel following them around making a documentary to promote African tourism. (By all accounts ITT members, though hugely attractive in their own right, were eclipsed by the two beauty queens who were acting as ambassadors - and who are therefore more likely to hog the TV limelight!)
The Zimbabwe fam trip was a huge success and members appreciated the opportunity to see so much of the country. The group’s joint highlights were a safari, elephant riding, a lion walk, a river cruise on the Zambezi and the ‘Flight of Angels’ – a helicopter ride across Victoria Falls!
ITT would like to thank the Zimbabwe Tourist Authority for their hospitality – all the hotels and safari lodges were first class, and the food was excellent. All in all it was a wonderful opportunity for ITT members to learn more about the countries their clients book holidays to.
More ITT fam trips are being planned; we’ll email the details to ITT members as soon as the details are finalised.
