THE ACCREDITED TRAVEL PROFESSIONAL SCHEME

ABTA and ITT have been working closely together to develop a new industry-standard scheme to encourage continuous professional development.

The Accredited Travel Professional Scheme (ATP) will recognise professionalism in the travel industry through personal achievement, excellence in customer service, the development of expertise and knowledge for the benefit of the individual and the business.

What will it mean for you?

  • Acknowledgement of your on-going achievements
  • Being recognised as a professional by your clients and customers
  • Recognition of your achievements by your industry colleagues
  • Active learning throughout your career
  • Career progression through continuous development
  • Increased employability

Want to be part of this?

You’ll be able to apply via the ATP website and can join the scheme at one of three levels:

Bronze membership: after 1 year working in the travel industry and an NVQ at level 2 / Modern Apprenticeship; or after over 2 years experience

Silver membership: after at least 4 years working in the travel industry and an NVQ at Level 3 (or equivalent)

Gold membership: after at least 7 years working in the travel industry and an NVQ at Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent)

You can progress from bronze to silver and on to gold as you gain more experience.

Continuous Professional Development

All you‘ll need to do to retain your ATP membership is show evidence of Continuous Professional Development by keeping a record of your learning and development activities, such as:

  • Attending in-house training sessions
  • Undertaking qualifications
  • Going on a FAM trip
  • Attending the World Travel Market or Business Travel Show
  • Reading the trade press
