To view the photographs taken at the event, please CLICK HERE GUEST SPEAKER Mark took over as Chief Executive of ABTA in September 2005. His background is in the private sector, where he held senior positions in strategy and corporate finance in a number of industry sectors. Immediately prior to joining ABTA, Mark was Group Strategy Director of Centrica plc, the parent company of British Gas. Before that he was Strategy Director of the Automobile Association, which was acquired by Centrica in 2000. While with Centrica, Mark spent eighteen months on secondment to the Home Office as Senior Director of the Immigration and Nationality Directorate, where he was responsible for a wide-ranging programme of change and reform. Now he is responsible for one of the biggest shake ups in ABTA’s history. Mark believes his recent reforms will allow members to compete on a fairer basis and cut their costs of doing business. His vision is of an association that embraces all types of travel organisers, is focussed on serving its members' needs, is more commercial and is recognised as the voice of the industry. Mark’s presentation provided an enlightening insight into this vision. |
