Current Project: Flexible working in travel and tourism There is a body of legislation that is designed to create more flexible working arrangements within British industry. Such arrangements typically include part-time working, flexi-time, annualised hours, compressed hours, job sharing and home working. Important research has been undertaken elsewhere, notably by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), but little of this deals with businesses in travel and tourism. This year’s project would rectify that imbalance and offer members the opportunity to learn from good practice in the sector. Please get in touch with Professor Rhodri Thomas (r.thomas@leedsmet.ac.uk or 0113 283 3462) if you know of interesting practices in the travel sector.
