ITT PRESIDENT'S DINNER VENUE: The Dorchester Hotel, London DATE: Monday 22 September 2008 |

Glamorous, glitzy, entertaining, humorous, tasty - all adjectives which could be attributed to the ITT President, or more specifically, to his official Dinner at the Dorchester Hotel in London at the end of September. During a sumptuous four course meal, music was provided by the entertaining and energetic electric string quartet, Stringfever. Classically trained, this group of musical brothers have turned the humble film score into a competitive art form. And as for the presidential version of their interactive Bolero… Politician and commercial barrister Lord Charles Falconer was the after dinner speaker. In an affable and good humoured speech, he recounted the day he was appointed Minister in charge of the Millennium Dome. He found himself catapulted from obscurity to fame on the lunchtime news, but by the time the story hit the nine o’clock news, his fame had turned to notoriety! In praising what’s happening at the Dome today, he did admit that the main lesson he’d learnt from his time in politics was to never put commercial barristers in charge of travel and tourism attractions. The heat’s now on for next year’s ITT Conference. Steven Freudmann announced it will be held at the InterContinental Hotel in Festival City, Dubai. The venue is a super luxury hotel, with six restaurants and a world class spa. It’s on the waters edge and is surrounded by shopping malls and is close to one of the world’s most magnificent golf courses. In June the average daytime temperature will be 39oC, but as the conference centre is part of the hotel, all you’ll have to do is stagger down the air conditioned stairs in the mornings! Trevor Harding and Steven Freudmann were delighted to formally present a cheque for £25,110 to Richard Tobias and Fiona Jeffrey of Just A Drop, being the amount raised at the Gala Dinner auction at this year’s Conference. But in addition to this, on the night, diners raised an additional £2,635! When the function was over, ITT Members did what many ITT Members do best – they propped up the bar into the early hours of the following morning. A great time was had by all!
