Zahara Cuenca Lopez
TT has awarded its prestigious Bella Rangal Callan Award for the Student of the Year to Zahara Cuenca Lopez.
Presented at the ITT Summer Cocktails on 23 July the award acknowledges outstanding achievement throughout an educational career.
In September 2009 Zahara will graduate with distinction from University College Birmingham (UCB) where she was studying for an MA in Tourism Destination Management sponsored by the Spanish National Tourism Board.
Zahara was nominated by Sally Levers, Postgraduate Programme Manager at UCB, who wanted to see Zahara’s achievements recognised. In addition to the MA, taken in her second language as Spanish is her first, Zahara was concurrently learning Portuguese and also completing her last module for the CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing. On hearing the news of Zahara’s win Levers quoted “I am delighted, Zahara is a deserved winner; she is determined, intelligent and hard working and I am sure she will go far in the travel and tourism industry.”
In May 2009 Zahara took up a role as Account Executive at Lotus UK, a London based PR and representation agency specialising in the travel sector. Her role includes working on the Spanish theme park account Port Aventura where she is involved in all commercial aspects of the MICE and golf business.
Zahara said:“I am really honoured to win this award. ITT is held in such high esteem so it is wonderful to be recognised by such a respected organisation. I am now greatly enjoying the challenge of putting my knowledge to good use at Lotus UK, and seeing how the travel industry works on a day to day basis.”
