We are delighted that ITT has chosen Cyprus as the destination for its 2008 Conference. We have a long tradition of welcoming British visitors and look forward to showing you how diverse and beautiful Cyprus is, with its stunning contrast of sea and mountain scenery and a rich historical heritage. Moreover, we have an inexhaustible range of products that meet the demands of the most discerning traveller, including golf courses of an exceptional standard, some of the most fashionable spas and wellness facilities, and a great variety of ethnic and international cuisine.

We look forward to welcoming you to Cyprus and thank you for choosing to spend a few days on the island of love.

Cyprus

Tourism is one of the Republic of Cyprus's most important industries and it’s easy to see what attracts people to the island. It’s a modern country which amalgamates European culture with history and mythology, a mix of beautiful beaches, mountain peaks, ancient ruins, old stone villages, vineyards, olive trees and citrus groves.

Cyprus typically enjoys 340 days of sunshine a year and in June, the temperature could reach above 30oC. However, despite the high temperatures, the sea breeze creates a pleasant atmosphere by the coast.

Cyprus is steeped in history and mythology. Petra tou Romiou, near Paphos, is the rock where the Greek goddess of love and fertility, Aphrodite, is said to have arisen from the aphros (sea foam). Other important historical attractions include the stunning Paphos mosaics, the spectacular amphitheatre of Kourion and Kolossi Castle where the Knights of St. John first produced the sweet wine Commandaria. All are within an easy drive from your hotel base. Slightly further afield to the west is the beautiful Akamas Peninsula, where Aphrodite used to bathe with her lover Adonis.

The mountain scenery of Cyprus is exceptional. Good quality roads connect pictureque villages, with hospitable inhabitants who have a tradition for producing wine and handicrafts with time tested skills. The Island's beauty has attracted many visitors, some welcome, others not so welcome. They have all left traces of their presence in the form of Greek classical style amphitheatres, Roman mosaics, medieval Crusader castles, Venetian wall and World Heritage Byzantine Churches.

They also had an influence on the excellent food of Cyprus which combines an abundance of fresh ingredients, Middle Eastern exotic flavours and spices and European sophistication and refinement.
