VENUE: Portsmouth - Bilboa Ferry Route
At the end of March, 15 ITT Members enjoyed a bracing sea voyage courtesy of P&O Ferries.
The Fam trip was to introduce Members to P&O’s Portsmouth to Bilbao route. They did a round trip, with two nights on board the Pride of Bilbao on the outward route and one night on the return journey. Everyone was given a cabin with en suite facilities, and breakfasts and dinners were provided in the excellent Langan’s Brasserie.
When they were not enjoying the fine dining, there were plenty of facilities and activities for the group to experience. The ferry crossing is designed to be relaxing so there was plenty to do, from quizzes, games and entertainment, to a fitness centre and spa, cinema, bars and restaurants. And of course there’s always the chance to get plenty of fresh air outside on deck. ITT Members were told that whales and dolphins can sometimes be spotted in the Bay of Biscay, but there were none to be seen during the Fam trip.
Even though they were only in Bilbao for a short time, the group wasn’t going to pass over the opportunity to see a bit of Spain. The group went on a shore excursion to the Spanish fishing village of Castro Urdiales, on of the north coast’s tourist attractions, where they had a relaxing morning enjoying the Spanish sunshine.
On the return crossing passengers were ‘treated’ to the sort of rough crossing conditions that only the Bay of Biscay can provide! However, ITT Members are a hardy bunch and the group didn’t let a few 12 foot waves get in the way of their hard work, so they toasted the weather from the comfort of the bar!
ITT would like to thank P&O Ferries for their generosity and hospitality, giving special thanks to the onboard staff and those in Langan’s Brasserie who were superb throughout.
